Original Policy Release

PPTS EPISODE EDITING POLICY

1. This policy is released per the direction of the PPTS Executive Producer on November 6, 2017. This is the original release of this policy. All members of the PPTS staff are responsible for the timely, accurate and rigorous execution of this policy at all times.

2. Any PPTS staff member, listener, or other person may make recommendations, suggestions, compliments and/or complaints regarding this policy should communicate with the show host/owner via email only. Comments will not result in the response you deserve. The email address you should use is:

Please put the words "Editing Policy" within your subject line. This will allow your communications to be addressed to the correct responsible person on the PPTS staff. All emails will be responded to within 24 hours of receipt in all cases.

3. We publish this policy to the world to explain our episode editing policy in response to questions from our listeners. We want you to understand the process of editing our shows, and why we edit at all. We hope this policy release will answer those questions for our listeners, guests, special guests, and PPTS staff.

PPTS is a weekly online audio-only broadcast presented to the world. Each episode is usually scheduled as a two-hour (pre-edit) presentation. Each pre-edited episode will be edited following the live show, normally within 24 hours. Edited episodes will be uploaded to the PPTS show page as soon as the editing process is complete.

PPTS policy is that no editing will be done to alter, change, add or remove content or context. Ever. We present this show as an invitation for others, often of opposing views, into civil discourse on relevant topics of the day. This policy is the foundation stone of the show. It will not change.

Each two-hour show episode requires between 2-10 hours of editing, depending on the episode. Editing will consist of audio considerations (truncation of silence, stereo-to-mono conversion to reduce file size for transport (upload/download), audio mixing for clarity, etc.), Editing will also include complete presentation review by researchers, producers, and the show host for errors in presentation (facts) by THE HOST AND STAFF ONLY.

Errors made will be corrected on this blog, which is the official show site. Errors of fact by special guests, callers, and/or found within our chat room will not be edited. Any mandated disconnection from the show for callers will ONLY occur within the live show, and will not be edited. We do not, and will not ever edit the show's content or context. To do so would be a betrayal of the trust our listeners and guests place in us to present their words with complete accuracy.

In the course of "usual" editing, the episode length for the final edited episode will be sometimes significantly less than the original show episode as recorded. (I talk slowly, and there can be significant silence durations when I speak.)  If an unusual editing situation occurs, it will be clearly identified and explained on this site via entry into the blog for the date of that particular show's presentation. This is only in the case of unusual or special editing requirements. (Technical difficulties, for instance will be edited out of the show and an explanation given here.)

Prior to final uploading of the edited episode, the entire edited show will be reviewed by the Executive Producer/Host for accuracy, clarity, and presentation integrity. Special guests will be notified when the edited show is uploaded to the show's page on Blog Talk Radio for their review and comment.

Comments, criticisms, suggestions, requests, etc. by our special guests will, upon their review of the edited show, be individually addressed by the show's staff with the special guest(s) via email and/or telephonic communications.

Final decisions regarding the edited episode are solely the responsibility of the show's Executive Producer in all cases.

PPTS has contracted with our online presentation provider(s) for each show's presentation to the world. Rarely, our providers cannot supply access to the live show due to their technical difficulties. We do not hold responsibility in these cases. Occurrences of this nature will be clearly identified and explained here, on the official show site.

For the entire PPTS team,
